The Wyoming State Reading Council would like to recognize the 2017 Celebrate Literacy recipients for their contribution and support of literacy in Wyoming.  The students and adults in Wyoming benefit from the efforts and dedication of these recipients.


Karrie Prueit of Worland was nominated by the Washakie County Reading Council.  She is an elementary teacher at South Side Elementary.  Ms. Prueit was instrumental in addressing a district curriculum issue identified by testing data.  She organized professional development using the Spaulding Method, developed and created materials to support the numerous workshops she provided for teachers.  Her efforts have resulted in a consistent district wide approach reading and spelling in the elementary grades.  Ms. Prueit has continued to support the implementation of the phonics program and is utilized consistently as a resource by the teachers.  Teachers and students are thankful for Ms. Prueit's expertise.

Becky Davis was nominated by the Cody Reading Council. Mrs. Davis is a 1st grade teacher at Sunset School in Cody. She instills the love of learning and literacy with students in her classroom using creative ways to engage the students.  Students leave Mrs. Davis with a love of books and passion for reading.  In addition Mrs. Davis has been active in the Cody Reading Council serving as an officer and volunteering for many different activities promoted by the local council.  Mrs. Davis currently serves as the president for the Wyoming State Reading Council and continues to promote literacy across the state of Wyoming.  Thank you Mrs. Davis for your service to our organization.
